Payment safety guide

How to Pay for an iPhone with M-PESA in Kenya: Safety Checks

Payment methods and recipient details must be confirmed for the transaction you are making. This guide explains general safety checks and does not publish a payment number or guarantee a particular payment option.

Confirm the purchase first

Before paying, confirm the exact product, condition, configuration, total price and collection or delivery arrangement with the seller through a contact route you obtained from the official website or in person.

Check the payment recipient

Use the payment type and recipient details confirmed directly by the business at the point of sale. Review the details displayed by your M-PESA flow before proceeding. Payment flows differ; if a recipient name is not displayed, do not assume it was verified.

Protect your PIN and confirm the transaction

Never disclose your M-PESA PIN or account credentials to a caller, seller or anyone claiming to help with a payment. Confirm the transaction in your own Safaricom message or app; do not treat another person’s screenshot as proof.

Pause if details do not match

Do not proceed if the recipient, amount or purchase details differ from what the business confirmed. Contact the business using the number or route on its official website and resolve the difference before authorizing the payment.
